Episode 003 The Free Black Women’s Library – Los Angeles

Earlier this spring we talked to Asha Grant, Director of the Free Black Women’s Library – Los Angeles. Many of Asha’s events quickly sell out and have standing room only! In this episode, we talk about what the library needs, Magic and Freedom, misogynoir, libraries as vital community spaces, and looking forward to Lauren Oya Olamina’s Birthday on July 20, 2019.

In honor of Octavia E. Butler’s 72nd birthday, Octavia E. Butler Legacy Network and FBWL-LA are collaborating on an event, Lily Pad + Lit: Celebrating the Life and Legacy of Octavia E. Butler at the Huntington Library.

@Oeblegacy will also be part of a celebration at the Los Angels Public Library’s opening of the Octavia Lab.
